Amelia Baron is an artist and curator based in West Yorkshire, UK. Their artist practice explores the complexities of the mind through performance and installation. Her work is often characterised by the use of delicate materials and repetitive gestures, reflecting on the fragility and vulnerability of mental health.
Originally from Blackburn, Lancashire, Amelia graduated with a BA in Fine Art at Leeds Arts University in 2018. Her route into higher education was unconventional due to prolonged hospital stays as she navigated mental health challenges. Art became her primary means of expression during this time, offering a cathartic space for both communication and healing. Through this creative process, she found not only a way to reconnect with others, but also a means of navigating her own journey towards recovery.
Since 2018, Amelia has been an employee at The Art House, Wakefield, becoming part of the programme and curatorial team in 2021. In her role as Curator and Programme Coordinator, she is passionate about supporting artists who face barriers to their practice, while firmly holding the belief that art should be accessible to all, regardless of class or background.
