Obsession for Perfection (2017/18) was a series of endurance-based performance art pieces that confront the destructive nature of perfectionism and its often-overlooked connection to mental health in contemporary society. Through ritualistic, repetitive actions, the work exposes the obsessive drive to achieve unattainable ideals and the physical and mental toll that accompanies.
Materiality is central to the performances, with objects serving as potent symbols: grains of rice represent eating disorders, a single penny embodies depression and low worth. Finally, colourful beads highlighted the often-silent struggles of children’s mental health. Each performance spanned up to five days, offering audiences a visceral commentary on the cost of chasing perfection.
