Sunflowers (Cycles), was created during a period of illness where sunflowers were bought to adorn Amelia’s windowsill to remind her of happier times. As the flowers started to naturally wilt and die Amelia’s thoughts turned to life, death, recovery and relapse: cycles. Using close to 1000 “stigmas” from the sunflowers’ discs, Amelia created dizzying circles that, as time passed, would naturally shrink and shrivel. The ephemeral beauty mimicking the cycles of both plant and human life.
